The Director of Quality/Chief Inspector provides leadership and oversight of the MRO Quality organization to ensure all maintenance activities are performed in compliance with FAA/EASA/CAAC regulations, OEM standards, and customer requirements. This role manages the QMS, leads the inspection program, and serves as the company’s Chief Inspector under FAA Part 145 requirements. The position requires an FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) certificate and strong technical knowledge of turbine engine and component maintenance.
Responsibilities- Ensure all maintenance activities meet the requirements of FAA Part 145, Part 43, EASA, and other international standards.
- Serve as the Chief Inspector with direct responsibility for inspection programs, documentation control, and release-to-service approvals.
- Act as primary liaison with the FAA, EASA, CAAC, DGCA, and other authorities during audits, inspections, and certifications.
- Oversee the development and maintenance of Repair Station and Quality Control Manuals.
- Direct and manage the receiving, in‑process, and final inspection functions.
- Supervise and authorize Inspectors, ensuring they are properly trained and qualified.
- Oversee calibration programs for tools, gauges, and test equipment.
- Ensure proper tagging, traceability, and airworthiness documentation for all parts and components.
- Oversee final records package compliance in accordance with work scope and regulations.
- Review and sign off on airworthiness releases, return‑to‑service authorizations, and 8130/FORM ONE documentation.
- Lead internal audits, CAPA investigations, and root cause corrective action (RCCA) initiatives.
- Drive continuous improvement projects to reduce non‑conformances and improve turnaround time (TAT).
- Develop and deliver training for inspectors, mechanics, and quality staff to ensure regulatory compliance and technical excellence.
- Maintain currency and proficiency in industry regulations, OEM requirements, and best practices.
- FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) Certificate (required).
- Minimum 10+ years of aviation MRO experience, with at least 5 years in Quality/Inspection leadership.
- Strong knowledge of turbine engines, engine components, and repair processes.
- In‑depth knowledge of FAA Part 145, Part 43, and Part 21.
- Experience leading regulatory, customer, and OEM audits.
- Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to interface with regulators and executives.
