This is a professional position of service to the Miccosukee Tribe of Indians of Florida (“Tribe”) requiring a specialized technical knowledge base in electrical engineering. The incumbent will maintain a pivotal role in being responsible to oversee and manage the planning, design, and implementation of Tribe-wide electrical energy projects.

Skills & Qualifications
  • EDUCATION/TRAINING: A Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering is required, though an advanced degree is preferred. A Florida professional engineer (P.E.) license is preferred, though a Florida Board of Professional Engineers licensure can be pursued while employed.
  • EXPERIENCE:

    The incumbent must have at least ten (10) years of demonstrated, qualified experience in electrical energy and grid structure sectors, including specific applications of solar energy and related infrastructure design and implementation. Must have demonstrated experience in data analysis and results interpretation of complex quantitative and/or qualitative data sets. Must have demonstrated experience in technical information summary and reporting within various formats and for varied audiences.

    Must possess effective technical writing skills, excellent interpersonal communication abilities, and must be able to exercise sound judgement, be a critical thinker, and work to support informed decision‑making processes.
  • TECHNICAL

    SKILLS:

    Experience with AutoCAD, MATLAB, Simulink, SCADA, Epsilon by STEAG, C++, MS Office, ESRI ArcGIS Pro, and GPS platforms is preferred.
  • LICENSES AND OTHER:
    Must possess a valid Florida driver’s license upon hire, and must be retained throughout the duration of employment.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The incumbent will expect to work in a typical professional office location on a day‑to‑day basis. On occasion, and as deemed necessary, the incumbent may be required to work outdoors in the South Florida climate that includes extreme heat, humidity, and UV exposure, and weather that includes heavy rain and dangerous lightning. While in the field, the incumbent may expect to encounter dangerous wildlife, including large mammals/reptiles, venomous reptiles, stinging/biting insects, and noxious plants.

The incumbent may work in and around wetlands, open water ponds/lakes, and deep canals. The incumbent must be able to swim.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Develop and manage Tribal energy project plans on all Tribal Lands, ensuring alignment with Tribal goals and objectives.
  • Coordinate with Tribal Leadership, Tribal departments, and external agencies to ensure successful project implementation.
  • Oversee the procurement of resources and services necessary for project execution, including from external federal grants.
  • Execute project budgetary responsibilities, including budget development, tracking, and ensuring compliance with Tribal financial policies.
  • Execute federal grant management and compliance actions and reporting.
  • Serve in a capacity to coordinate, evaluate, and oversee external contractor design planning and deliverables.
  • Serve in a capacity to evaluate and inspect construction activities to ensure compliance with approved final design plans.
  • Report directly to the Land Resources Director, or other management designee. The Land Resources Department is organized under Sustainable Resources, which constitutes the Miccosukee Environmental Protection Agency departments (Water Resources, Land Resources, Fish & Wildlife). Sustainable Resources is led by the Chief Sustainability Officer.
  • Be dedicated to serve the needs, interests, and people of the Miccosukee Tribe of Indians of Florida, and be diligent to protect and assert Tribal sovereignty.
  • May be assigned other duties as is deemed necessary and required.
