Salary: $70,000 – $80,000 annually
OverviewThe Project Estimator prepares timely and accurate bid estimates for projects/programs within Mas Tec Utility Services non‑union business. This position plans all projects within expectations for efficient use of personnel, equipment, materials, and subcontractors in adherence with contract requirements, time guidelines and other restrictions. This role is part of a team working closely with Operations personnel and business unit leadership.
Responsibilities- Fully responsible for the preparation of accurate and complete bid estimates, including travel to job sites as needed, support of bid and pricing strategy, customer presentations, and management of B2W estimating tool.
- Cooperate with proposal support team to meet bid deadlines and presentation requirements; proactively identify and mitigate construction risks.
- Coordinate with subcontractors to obtain bid‑compliant pricing and overall bidding process coordination.
- Develop substantive assumptions and clarifications with leadership to ensure bid accuracy.
- Maintain a risk register and appropriate contingencies based on bid complexity, geography and other factors.
- Support post‑award Ops personnel to develop and recommend change orders and other cost‑related activities.
- Participate in bid process reviews, go/no‑go decisions, and post‑award turnover meetings.
- Provide guidance in larger initiatives and coordinate internal processes; may give technical guidance and coaching to less experienced staff.
- Interface with internal and external stakeholders on planning and scheduling, reporting, and complaint schedules.
- Communicate effectively and present to client groups and team members.
- Manage additional resources on projects when required, including training, mentoring and assignment of work.
- Ensure team goals and protocols align with high‑performance requirements and company strategy.
- Understand major business components and implications relating to estimating and cost control.
- Ensure compliance with Mas Tec Project Management Methodology and uphold safety and quality protocols.
- 5 years of experience estimating mid‑scale projects and knowledge of construction and utility industry practices.
- Experience with computerized bidding software and proficiency in MS Office.
- Ability to obtain PMM certification.
- BS degree in Project Management, Engineering, or related field; or equivalent experience.
- Additional 2+ years of experience in estimating.
Professional office setting. Typical office equipment use. Primarily sedentary; occasional filing or lifting up to 50 lb.
