Senior Manager, Decarbonization Analytics & Performance

Responsible to establish, communicate & share operational best practices both with ship & shore, implementing standardized operational metrics (KPIs), monitoring fleet/vessel performance, reporting & following up. He/she shall represent the Decarbonization & Energy Performance team and work alongside the Vessel Operations Strategy team to implement and maintain energy data analytics tool, set vessel targets (KPI), maintain the existing energy benchmarking tools, and further develop them based on the energy savings potential & feedback.

The position also involves other advanced operational data analytics projects, hull performance analysis, environmental regulatory compliance and energy technology retrofit assessment, qualification & validation studies.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Promote the Fleet Energy Efficiency improvement practices alongside the relevant shipboard & shoreside personnel i.e., Voyage Efficiency (Propulsion) & Vessel Operations (Service) - Hotel, Chillers, Auxiliary, Other.
  • Assist with vessel performance related issues, training, communications, vessel visits in port and sailing onboard vessels when required.
  • Provide feedback and support to shoreside Marine Operations in Vessel Performance related matters with high focus being on Energy Efficiency Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
  • Collaborate with Chief Engineers and Captains when leading energy optimization and fuel planning discussions. Analyze fleet's performance and report findings to drive change throughout the organization; organize performance review with ship managers and fleet directors.
  • Manage annual fuel consumption regulatory reporting for the International Maritime Organization Data Collection System and European Union MRV (Monitoring, Reporting and Verification).
  • Manage emission monitoring plan development, continued compliance and follow-up.
  • Co-develop both short- & long-term corporate energy technology investment strategy, in sync with the Net-Zero by 2050 initiatives and decarbonization regulations & targets.
  • Develop alternative fuel deployment strategy for existing and developing regulations.
  • Coordinate Decarbonization & Energy Performance Team CAPEX Plan submission and approvals, as per company internal procedures.
  • Monitor and validate performance of Decarbonization Capital Projects.
  • Support Senior Management by preparing business cases for energy conservation projects, including investment returns and impacts on regulatory requirements.
  • Actively engage with the Sustainability Team for annual reporting
  • Identify energy efficiency optimization opportunities by applying advanced data analytics on the shipboard operational data and work alongside the Vessel Operations Strategy Team to further enhance efficiency.
  • Ensure vessel data connections are active, data flow is consistent, and data quality is sustained, developing proficiency in existing data sources and tools, including but not limited to Eniram Fleet System, Napa Office, weather reporting software.
  • Maintain multiple energy tools & interfaces & coordinate user access grants and credentials management.
  • Continuously validate all operational ship models pertinent to Speed, Trim, Route, Propulsion Power, Fuel Mix, Service Power, and Hull Performance for accuracy.
  • Perform other job-related functions as assigned.
Qualifications

Degree Type: Bachelor's Degree

Field(s) of Study: Engineering related fields (Mechanical, Biomechanical, Marine), Data Science and Analytics or related field of study; or any relevant equivalent work experience, training, skills and/or certifications.

Experience
  • Minimum 7 years of work experience in the technical field. Prior experience in the marine industry or in a corporate environment is a plus.

  • Outgoing and able to work in a diverse team environment.
  • Strong proficiency with Excel, Power Point, Word and Project Manager.

  • Ability to adapt to using new software and comprehend the technical nature of the data.
