Supports the mission of FIU, Career and Talent Development (CTD), and the College of Arts, Sciences & Education (CASE) by providing a comprehensive career development and management program for students and recent alumni that contributes to the continued growth of internship, graduate school, and employment opportunities for undergraduate students in CASE. This role reports to the Career and Talent Development department and serves as a liaison for CASE.
- Serve as a career specialist for the College of Arts, Sciences & Education, covering Biology, Chemistry, Earth and the Environment, Education, English, Interdisciplinary Studies, Liberal Studies, Mathematics, Philosophy, Physics, Psychology, Recreation & Sport Management, and Women's & Gender Studies to connect students with internship and career opportunities related to their interests and/or academic programs.
- Act as a liaison between the central Career and Talent Development Department and CASE to ensure effective use of programming and resources aligned with the vision, mission, and goals of both organizations.
- Develop materials and conduct outreach presentations about career opportunities, events, and how to gain skills and experiences for graduate school and/or employment.
- Conduct one-on-one appointments and group workshops to review resumes, conduct mock interviews, advise on networking, and other career-related topics.
- Help students access traditional internships and other forms of experiential learning (e.g., micro-internships, volunteering, mentorship/shadowing).
- Assist with and participate in CTD and CASE events across all campuses.
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with Chairs, Faculty, and Advisors in CASE units to understand program needs related to career/internship opportunities.
- Facilitate professional development workshops for CASE advisors and staff/faculty who work with students to keep them informed of career trends.
- Gather data and prepare written communications, reports, and multimedia materials for distribution to constituents and stakeholders.
- Support Deans/Colleges' goals related to career and job readiness for students and collaborate with the CASE Director of Experiential Learning on related projects.
Master's degree and two (2) years of related experience; OR Bachelor's degree and four (4) years of related experience.
Desired QualificationsMaster's degree in Higher Education, Student Personnel or related field.
