ADULT EDUCATION TEACHER
This open competitive advertisement is for a Career Service position located at South Florida Reception Center in the Education department. This position is for an Adult Basic Education/GED® Instructor responsible for delivery of instruction in Math/Science, Reading-Language Arts and Social Studies through a blended instructional model.

By offering quality education and training, we aim to reduce recidivism and support inmates in becoming productive, law-abiding citizens.
This position is not a telework position and is required to report to the FDC office in the area it serves.
Job Duties / Responsibilities- Teach assigned academic subjects to students at a correctional institution/facility using a blended instructional model; plan, develop, and conduct classes in Math/Science, Reading-Language Arts, and Social Studies.
- Supervise inmates in the class, conduct roll calls, counts, and maintain attendance records.
- Ensure order and discipline in the classroom, continually evaluate student progress, and administer grades and tests.
- Counsel and advise individuals on program progress, behavior, or personal concerns.
- Participate in staff meetings, seminars, and workshops for curriculum changes and professional development; assist in budget preparation and purchase requests for the education program.
- A bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college/university; and
- Possess or be eligible to apply for a State of Florida Educator's Certificate.

Non-certified applicants must obtain a temporary State of Florida Educator’s Certificate within 12 months of hire. State of Florida Educator’s Professional Certificate must be obtained prior to the expiration of Temporary Certificate.

Salary, Benefits & Other InformationSalary: $51,500.02 Annually
