KIPP Miami is looking for a motivated Special Education/ ESE teacher who is SPED certified and has a proven track record of shaping future leaders. You are passionate about education and understand the importance of building strong relationships to achieve student success.
Responsibilities- Teach in an inclusive class, sharing responsibilities with a general education teacher
- Provide resource small group support as needed
- Deliver alternative or parallel instruction to a group of students and provide 1:1 teaching as required
- Employ multisensory teaching strategies and specialized instruction based on students’ specific disabilities
- Implement all modifications and accommodations for the classroom and for testing
- Create IEPs in collaboration with the Child Response Team to ensure high-quality service delivery and compliance
- Use student IEPs, evaluations, and present levels of performance to guide instruction
- Collaborate with the student support team to conduct annual IEP meetings
- Use data to responsively teach to mastery of academic skills
- Track student performance and progress, continually improving student growth objectives
- Administer and track weekly assessment data to monitor progress toward grade level goals and IEP goals
- Create action plans to improve performance when students fall behind
- Communicate progress clearly to all stakeholders
- Participate in school, departmental, and parent meetings
- Participate in school events, activities, and programs during and outside of regular class instruction hours
- A belief in every student’s limitless potential
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university (official transcripts required prior to start date)
- Appropriate state teaching certification completed or in process of being completed
- Subject matter expertise
- Minimum of two years of teaching experience, with demonstrated interest in working with students from diverse backgrounds
- A track record of success in the classroom
- A collaborative attitude toward teaching and learning
- Master’s in Special Education / Teaching Students with Disabilities
- A record of exceptional student achievement and results at a high-performing charter network or charter management organization
- A belief that all students deserve a world-class education achieved through educational reform
KIPP Miami offers a full comprehensive benefits plan, including health care, a competitive 403(B) plan, and a school laptop. Salaries are based on prior experience and certification requirements. The starting salary is $55,000 with opportunities to earn up to $4,000 annually in performance-based pay.
