Part-Time Academic & Career Advisor
Location: Hialeah Campus
Job Type: Temporary – Part Time
Reports To: Director
Salary: $15.36 – $18.77 (Depending on Degree Earned)
Position Overview: The Part-Time Academic & Career Advisor assists students in defining and clarifying their educational and career goals and resolves issues related to academic difficulties. This is a temporary grant funded position through June 30, 2026, contingent upon grantor funding and grant extension.
Responsibilities- Provide academic and career advisement for students in the following categories: new, transfer, transient, undecided, and those not making satisfactory progress as outlined in the Standards of Academic Progress.
- Assist students with clarifying their career and academic goals.
- Resolve student advisement issues.
- Assist students with creating, following, and adjusting their individualized educational plan (IEP).
- Participate in scheduled training activities and workshops.
- Provide admission, assessment and registration information.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in an appropriate field from a regionally accredited institution and one (1) year of related experience.
- Knowledge of academic advising and career development principles and practices.
- Experience advising students.
- Knowledge and understanding of College organization, goals and objectives, and policies and procedures preferred.
- Familiarity with the student information system.
- Effective communication skills (verbal and written).
- Ability to effectively present information in one‑on‑one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
- Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective public relations.
- Ability to interact in a positive manner in a multi‑ethnic and multi‑cultural environment with students, faculty and staff.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include evening and weekend assignments.
The final candidate must successfully complete a background screening and reference check process.
