** Summary
* * We are recruiting Orientation Leaders for Fall 2026!
Serving as an Orientation Leader (OL) is an honor and a rewarding opportunity for personal and professional growth. OLs serve as peer educators, group facilitators, performers, resource contacts, and role models to new students and their families during their transition to Barry University. New Student Orientation selects a group of mature and dedicated undergraduate student leaders to assist with implementing Orientation programs each year.
The training for this position will be compensated with room and board. Working hours will be compensated at $16.00 per hour. Any time worked beyond 40 hours will be compensated at time and a half.# This position is In-Person#
** Essential Functions
*** Welcome new students and family members to Barry University during Orientation sessions and assist them through the check-in process. Specific tasks are assigned to each OL during Summer Orientation to do this.
* Serve as a role model for new students and their families and be accessible to answer their questions and help them feel welcome.
* Be a source of information regarding academics, policies and procedures, campus resources and activities, building locations, and all other aspects of life at Barry University.
* Facilitate well-organized, thorough discussions with new students. OLs are required to go over specific information with students in small group sessions.
* Represent all college organizations equally and accurately to new students and their family members.
* Attend one FYE event. This will allow you to further develop relationships and show support to the incoming class. Must be available on Tuesdays from 3-5pm in the Fall semester to serve as an ELP Peer Mentor.
* Actively participate in each training session. Participating means listening, sharing your viewpoint, engaging, and arriving on time for each session. Training will consist of leadership, professional and personal development.
* Collaborate with your teammates to create a memorable, welcoming experience. Some examples include a video and a dance. Present to students about information on Barry, including student tours and presentations at O-Team informational sessions.
* Prepare materials and logistics for Orientation. This includes packing NSP tote bags with free giveaways, along with the Orientation booklet, and placing marketing materials/ décor around campus.
* Other duties assigned.#
** Qualifications/Requirements
*** Must be responsible for your own learning regarding institutional mission, policies, and practices, with guidance and training from the O-team leadership team.
* Must be able to participate in repeated activities, role plays, and scenarios.
* Must be able to ask questions to understand assignments and expectations.
* Must be able to challenge themself to step out of their “comfort zone.”
* Must be able to recognize and respect individual differences and the dignity of all people.
* Must be able to keep an open mind and strive to learn a new perspective on the world.
* Must adhere to the Academic Honor Code and the Student Code of Conduct as articulated in the Barry University Student Handbook
* Must be able to attend all scheduled training sessions and Orientation sessions as outlined on the O-team leaders’ training schedule.
