Position: Make an Impact in Pathology at a Leading Research Institution

The UMMG Staff Physician plays a critical role in providing exceptional medical care to patients across University of Miami Hospital (UMH), Jackson Memorial Hospital (JMH), and Sylvester Cancer Comprehensive Center (SCCC), including satellite locations. This position involves working within a designated specialty area based on the physician's expertise, ensuring comprehensive and high-quality patient care.

Core Responsibilities
  • Patient Care Services:
    Deliver patient-centered care in assigned specialties across UMH, JMH, and SCCC locations.
  • Pathology Procedures:
    Conduct gross descriptions, tissue sampling, microscopic examinations, diagnostic coding, and electronically sign out cases promptly.
  • Educational Involvement:
    Mentor and teach pathology residents, fellows, and medical students, contributing to the academic mission.
  • Tumor Boards:
    Attend and present findings at tumor boards as requested.
  • Quality Assurance & Safety:
    Participate in quality assurance, report safety concerns, and contribute to departmental committees.
  • Compliance:
    Maintain JCAHO, CAP, and CLIA standards to uphold departmental accreditation.
  • Confidentiality:
    Safeguard patient information in compliance with federal and state regulations.

Core Qualifications

Education:

  • M.D. in a relevant field.

Certification and Licensing:

  • Certification in the relevant specialty.

Experience:

  • Completion of an AP or AP/CP residency program, with 1-2 years of signout experience preferred.

Skills and Attitudes:

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Excellent organizational and prioritization skills, especially under pressure.
  • Discretion in handling confidential information.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, nights, and weekends as required.
