The University of Miami Health System is seeking a dedicated Staff Physician in Pathology and Laboratory Medicine
. This role involves direct patient care with a primary focus on surgical pathology across UMH, JMH, SCCC, and satellite locations.
Requirements:
- Education: M.D. or D.O.,
Board Certified/Eligible in Anatomic Pathology or Anatomic and Clinical Pathology. - Licensure: Must hold a valid license to practice medicine in Florida.
- Expertise in Anatomic Pathology
. - Skilled in quality assurance processes within a team-based model
. - Familiarity with JCAHO, CAP, and CLIA standards and regulations.
- Capable of independent work
, making reliable diagnostic recommendations. - Knowledge of hospital policies related to hazardous materials and biohazard precautions.
- Strong interpersonal skills to foster communication and collaboration.
Patient Care Services:
- Provide care at UMH, JMH, SCCC
, and affiliated satellite locations. - Primarily focused on surgical pathology
. - Responsibilities include gross description, dissection, tissue sampling, microscopic examination
, and reporting.
Specific Duties:
- Conduct Frozen Section and Rapid On-Site diagnoses (as applicable).
- Perform and report on autopsies (when required).
- Participate in 24-hour call coverage based on divisional assignment.
- Contribute to multidisciplinary tumor boards and site disease group meetings
.
Education & Research:
- Mentor and teach pathology residents, fellows, and medical students
. - Engage in collaborative research across the Medical Center.
- Seek funding through sponsored programs, grants, and contracts.
Quality and Compliance:
- Uphold standards for JCAHO/CAP/CLIA accreditation
. - Participate in daily quality assurance activities and departmental committees.
- Maintain accurate medical records and ensure HIPAA compliance.
Departmental Participation:
- Attend and contribute to departmental meetings, conferences, and events
. - Support the Departments commitment to excellence in patient care and academic distinction.
