This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position:
Serves as Medical Officer at a Military Entrance Processing Station (MEPS), a geographically‑separated unit of the United States Military Entrance Processing Command (USMEPCOM). Salary negotiation may be available for those candidates who are new to Federal service.

• Ensures compliance with Occupational Health and Safety Act (OSHA) requirements and Privacy Act data protection standards, including USMEPCOM, Department of Defense and applicable service regulations and directives.
• Reviews medical records, performing detailed medical histories and physicals in accordance with Department of Defense standards, evaluation of labs, completion and accurate profiling; and communicates with consultants and Service waiver authorities.
• Reviews the results of all diagnostic testing performed in the MEPS medical department for disqualifying issues.
• Conducts complete face‑to‑face medical histories on applicants who have completed the prescreen process as above and been authorized to process.
• Evaluates for injuries, deformities, defects, disorders, etc. of all systems including dental, psychiatric and behavioral disorders and a standardized orthopedic‑neurological examination.
• Determines if a more detailed physical exam of problem areas is required.
• Communicates directly with applicants on issues regarding abnormal findings personally or in writing.
• Communicate changes to the medical staff for input into the USMEPCOM‑unique applicant database.
