Department Overview

The Department of Anesthesiology, Perioperative Medicine, and Pain Management at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine (UMMSOM) is expanding and seeking exceptional candidates. It is one of the largest private employers in Miami-Dade County, with over 16,000 faculty and staff worldwide.

Job Description:
  • Generalists should be comfortable performing various cases, including orthopedics, GYN, community OB, abdominal, and general vascular cases. They are NOT required to perform cardiac cases or treat children under 2 years old. Skills in regional anesthesia and older children are helpful.
  • Applicants should be comfortable supervising trainees and CRNAs.
  • Applicants should be capable of performing cases independently if needed.
  • Participation in academic activities such as teaching, mentoring, departmental conferences, and faculty meetings is expected.
  • Call duties involve 3-4 overnight calls per month, sometimes from home, with occasional evening and weekend calls.
  • Effort distribution may vary based on department needs, candidate interests, and grant funding success.
    • Employment Requirements:
  • Completion of a US-approved residency in Anesthesiology or equivalent training and certification.
  • Board Eligibility or Certification in Anesthesiology is required. Equivalence to certification will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
