Manages the Digital Arts design and fabrication labs for the Department of Art + Art History. Maintains those spaces and equipment. Serves as safety officer. Serves as liaison with FIU Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) for the Art Studio Digital facilities. Provides technical support to maintain and update classroom computer workstations and peripheral devices in Art + Art History classrooms and labs, and for Art + Art History exhibitions and events.
- Oversees the day-to-day activities of the Digital Arts design and fabrication lab and classrooms. Provides support to Art + Art History classroom computer workstations and peripheral devices. Coordinates and performs general lab maintenance, strategic development, and organization.
- Performs initial maintenance of configuration of system hardware and software to meet the Department's standards. Diagnoses system hardware and software operation corrective procedures to restore it to operational standards. Investigates and solves minor equipment and software problems. Maintains, repairs, and updates studio equipment.
- Maintains inventory of equipment available for loan to students and faculty. Facilitates loans and returns of equipment.
- Trains and schedules student employees. Supervises all users of digital design and fabrication lab equipment. Keeps a log of lab use and statistics to determine effective space and time management.
- Provides technical assistance and training to faculty, staff, and students. Assists with developing and implementing operating policies and procedures for the labs as assigned. Schedules equipment demonstrations and keeps a log of training sessions.
- Provides support to student and faculty projects, grants, research, and creative work that utilize lab equipment and facilities.
- Serves as safety officer and liaison with FIU Environmental Health and Safety (EHS). Assists with implementing policies and procedures relating to health, life, and safety in the studio and associated spaces, in accordance with FIU EHS policies.
- Manages and renews AAH software licenses for labs, classrooms, faculty and staff.
- Conducts a quarterly inventory. In consultation with faculty, orders requests the purchase of necessary materials, equipment, and repairs to maintain optimal operation of the lab.
- Provides technical support for Art + Art History exhibitions and events.
- High school diploma and seven (7) years of related experience or Associate's and five (5) years of related experience.
- Experience in maintaining and diagnosing hardware and software.
- Proficiency in video and sound editing software technology for creative uses.
