Overview
OPS Senior Dentist – full‑time position in the Investigative Services Unit – Miami Field Office. Salary: $90.00 per hour. Telework is possible under certain conditions.
ResponsibilitiesIncumbent serves under the direction of the Investigations / Consumer Services Administrator. The role examines, evaluates, inspects, monitors or investigates the eligibility and conformity of licenses, permit holders and business entities. The following duties are performed:
- Conduct onsite inspections prior to approval of new dental sedation permits and location change requests, ensuring compliance with applicable rules and facility policies.
- Conduct dental sedation inspections and investigate violations discovered during the inspection process.
- Provide technical assistance to MQA investigators in specialized dentistry cases, reviewing sedation procedures for compliance with rules and regulations.
- Offer technical expertise in rule‑making and statutory review, supporting the Department enforcement programs.
- Prepare investigative, audit and probation reports.
- Testify at hearings and provide professional assistance to legal staff, investigative staff and other regulatory agencies.
- Serve subpoenas and administrative complaints.
- Answer public inquiries, make referrals, engage in public speaking and promote the goals and mission of the Department.
- Perform related duties as required, including disaster response assistance.
Proficient computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and knowledge of compliance management and licensing systems. Understanding of laws, codes, court procedures and government rules. Ability to review medical records for patient assessment components in relation to the Dental Practice Act. Strong oral communication and research skills. Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and high accuracy. Valid Florida Dentist license and licensure as a Dentist in Florida statutes are required.
Minimum Qualifications- Clear and active Florida Dentist license with no disciplinary action taken within the last five (5) years.
- Current Florida Sedation Permit for General Anesthesia.
- Two (2) years of experience in a dental sedation setting, assisting during dental sedation and recovery.
- At least two (2) years of medical / dental records utilization review experience.
- Valid driver’s license, background investigation, fingerprinting and direct deposit as required for employment.
