Professional Mapper

This is highly responsible, technical work performing as a Licensed Professional Mapper
.

Work involves responsibility for reviewing, processing, indexing, maintaining, and reproducing mapping and public record documents, including plats, surveys, aerial photographs, municipal atlas sheets, and construction plans and approving mapping documents, plats, sketch and legal descriptions, and related materials.

An incumbent in this position has considerable independence of action and authority to review and sign mapping documents as a Licensed Professional Mapper. Supervision may be exercised over subordinate technical and/or administrative staff.

• Reviews and processes record plats and mapping documents.
• Checks and maintains municipal atlas sheets.
• Indexes, files, maintains, and reproduces public records such as plats, surveys, aerial photographs, and construction plans.
• Prepares and reviews legal descriptions and mapping sketches.
• Consults with Engineers, Land Surveyors, and the general public on issues relating to mapping and records.
• Ensures accuracy and compliance of mapping data with applicable standards.
• Assists in coordinating mapping‑related services provided by private firms under contract.
• Plans, assigns, coordinates, and supervises the work of subordinate technical, clerical, and/or administrative staff.
• A State of Florida Professional Surveyor and Mapper License in accordance with Chapter 472, Florida Statutes, is required at time of application and must be maintained valid throughout employment.
• Six (6) months of experience in mapping work as a licensed Professional Surveyor and Mapper.
