Position Overview

Role Summary
The Safety Specialist reports to the Project Safety Manager and is responsible for implementing and supporting the مطرح Site Specific Safety Plan (SSSP) in the field. Duties include applying contract and client safety requirements, Kiewit Corporate Safety Manual, Corporate Crane Procedures Manual, District Standards, and all applicable laws. The Specialist ensures work is performed as planned, collaborates with operations and craft teams, and provides resources for corrective actions.

Kiewit’s Water Facilities South group specializes in constructing water treatment facilities, wastewater treatment facilities, and desalination plants. With regional offices in Miami, FL.photos and Atlanta, GA, projects span across the country. Responsibilities
  • Assist in the development, review, updating, and communication of the SSSP to all stakeholders, including subcontractors.
  • Collaborate daily with craft teams on the field to encourage buy‑in and support craft ownership of the safety program.
  • Exercise Stop Work Responsibility to ensure adherence to company policies, regulations, work plans, and detailed work packs.
  • Plan, prioritize, and problem‑solve with operations in the field at all times based on leading indicator trends and upcoming work.
  • Encourage, support, inspire, and advise staffhir and craft employees to execute the SSSP.
  • Maintain project files in compliance with OSHA/MSHA regulations and Kiewit policies, including accident/injury files.
  • Maintain relationships with emergency medical services and clinics, and provide first aid support.
  • Assist with incident investigations and implementation of effective solutions.
  • Conduct daily documented hazard inspections and help operations, craft, and subcontractors implement corrective actions.
  • Review work plans, work packs, and detailed work packs prior to start of work.
  • Provide safety training on implements and OSHA/MSHA policies, NCCER, SIMS, orientation, and client‑specific requirements.
Qualifications研究>
  • OSHA 30, 500, and 510 certifications.
  • Preferred:
    Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Safety, or related field.
  • Knowledge of construction safety, current federal and OSHA requirements.
  • Preferred:
    Certification as a Safety Professional or Emergency Medical Technician.
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Strong organizational and time‑management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to recognize discrepancies.
  • Strong work ethic – Willing to do what is required to complete the job.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
