Front Desk Clerk Front Desk Receptionist

South Florida Ambulatory Surgery Center is hiring a Front Desk Receptionist, Full Time. The facility is a busy, multispecialty ASC in Miami, FL worked by United Surgical Partners International, a company that specializes in the development and operation of Ambulatory Surgical Facilities in the U.S. and the U.K. We provide first‑class surgical services for local communities and recognize our employees as our number one assets.

The Front Desk Clerk interfaces with patients and families, physicians and staff; admits patients and processes their paperwork; updates patient demographics / information in the system; answers incoming phone calls; greets patients, checks them in, files, answers phones, and provides backup support for the business office.

Summary

Schedules procedures, registers patients, calculates charges, verifies insurance, and collects deposits as necessary. Prepares appropriate documents and assists business office duties as needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Answers telephone and either responds to inquiry, directing the caller to appropriate personnel. Schedules patients using Advantx with a high rate of accuracy. Provides exemplary customer service; treats patients and coworkers with courtesy and discretion. Greets and directs patients, sales people and visitors. Registers patients by verifying that the patient's record is up to date and accurate. Makes appropriate changes in computer system and on patient's chart.

Complies with federal and local laws in ensuring patient privacy. Collects payment from patients, applies payments and adjustments to patient accounts in the computer system. Reviews medical records for completeness, assembles records into standard order, and files records in designated areas according to filing systems.

Experience / Education
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Medical office experience preferred.
  • Chart preparation experience preferred.
  • Must have the skills necessary to operate office equipment required to fulfill job duties.
  • Medical terminology and computer experience beneficial.
  • Bilingual preferred.
  • Good communication skills.
