Position OverviewThe Part-Time Purchasing Assistant provides support to students, staff and administrators in the purchasing related functions.
What you will be doing- Assists the Culinary Outsourcing Specialist in requesting the purchase of materials, parts, supplies, food, wine, equipment and other commodities.
- Processes shipping and receiving orders for merchandise including uniforms, knives, food and non-food items for student labs.
- Assists in maintaining inventory control database using MICROS POS system.
- Assists with inventory control activities on all of the food, beverage and equipment stored in the facility.
- Builds and stocks carts for different teaching labs based on requisitions and restock par levels.
- Assists with preparation of daily, weekly and monthly reports of purchase transactions.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution; or Associate’s degree and two (2) years of experience; or thirty (30) credits and three (3) years related experience.
- All degrees must be from a regionally accredited institution.
- Knowledge and understanding of College organization, goals, and objectives, and policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of Micros POS system.
- Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely, verbally and in written format to groups and individuals.
- Possess effective work practices such as correct storage, handling, use and disposal procedures of various chemicals.
- Ability to work in high/low environment and be able to stand four to five hours a day.
- Ability to prioritize and organize multiple tasks to meet deadlines.
- Knowledge of general office practices and procedures and ability to handle a high volume office environment.
- Possess excellent organizational skill.
- Ability to coordinate the workload for various simultaneous tasks.
- Ability to create and maintain records, enter and retrieve large amounts of data.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule to include evening and weekend assignments.
- Ability to work well in a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural environment with students, faculty and staff.
The final candidate is to successfully complete a background screening and reference check process.
