Position Overview

The Part-Time Purchasing Assistant provides support to students, staff and administrators in the purchasing related functions.

What you will be doing
  • Assists the Culinary Outsourcing Specialist in requesting the purchase of materials, parts, supplies, food, wine, equipment and other commodities.
  • Processes shipping and receiving orders for merchandise including uniforms, knives, food and non-food items for student labs.
  • Assists in maintaining inventory control database using MICROS POS system.
  • Assists with inventory control activities on all of the food, beverage and equipment stored in the facility.
  • Builds and stocks carts for different teaching labs based on requisitions and restock par levels.
  • Assists with preparation of daily, weekly and monthly reports of purchase transactions.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
What you need to succeed
  • Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution; or Associate’s degree and two (2) years of experience; or thirty (30) credits and three (3) years related experience.
  • All degrees must be from a regionally accredited institution.
  • Knowledge and understanding of College organization, goals, and objectives, and policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of Micros POS system.
  • Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely, verbally and in written format to groups and individuals.
  • Possess effective work practices such as correct storage, handling, use and disposal procedures of various chemicals.
  • Ability to work in high/low environment and be able to stand four to five hours a day.
  • Ability to prioritize and organize multiple tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Knowledge of general office practices and procedures and ability to handle a high volume office environment.
  • Possess excellent organizational skill.
  • Ability to coordinate the workload for various simultaneous tasks.
  • Ability to create and maintain records, enter and retrieve large amounts of data.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule to include evening and weekend assignments.
  • Ability to work well in a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural environment with students, faculty and staff.
Additional Requirements

The final candidate is to successfully complete a background screening and reference check process.
