This role reports directly to the Controller and requires in‑office presence Monday–Friday.

The Assistant Controller will oversee day‑to‑day accounting operations, ensure accurate job cost reporting, and support financial processes that drive project and company performance. This role requires deep construction accounting expertise, strong leadership, and the ability to partner closely with project managers, superintendents, and executives.
Key Responsibilities- Manage daily accounting operations, including AP/AR, payroll processing, and general ledger maintenance
- Oversee job costing, cost coding accuracy, and project cost reporting
- Prepare and review WIP schedules, cost‑to‑complete projections, and margin analysis
- Support monthly close, financial statement preparation, and variance analysis
- Maintain and improve internal controls, accounting policies, and compliance with GAAP
- Partner with project managers to track costs, analyze variances, and forecast financial outcomes
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow planning
- Coordinate with external auditors and CPA firms during annual audits
- Oversee accounting systems and ensure data integrity (e.g., Sage 300, Procore, Miter)
- Train and mentor accounting staff, promoting accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 5+ years of accounting experience, including at least 3 years in construction
- Understanding of job costing, WIP reporting, and percentage‑of‑completion accounting
- Proficiency with construction accounting software and ERP systems
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and collaborate across departments
