About the Job
Accountant is accountable for maintaining accurate financial and accounting records, handling day-to-day accounting tasks, managing journal entries, and ensuring compliance with regulations. This role will play a key part in driving data-driven decision-making across the business by providing insights into financial performance, accounting, and operational efficiency. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, and organized with a strong knowledge of accounting principles, excellent problem-solving skills, and proficiency in financial software.
Responsibilities- Record day-to-day financial transactions (e.g., purchases, receipts, sales, payments)
- Perform reconciliations of accounts
- Prepare invoices and track accounts receivable/payable
- Prepare and maintain financial records, including general ledger entries, bank reconciliations, and financial statements.
- Monitor and analyze accounting data and produce financial reports or statements.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports and annual closing processes.
- Liaises with stakeholders to prepare tax returns and ensure timely submission of tax-related documents; support audits by providing necessary documentation.
- Ensure compliance with applicable standards, rules, regulations, and systems of internal control.
- Maintain and improve financial databases and reporting systems
- Supports the Financial Director in monitoring compliance by maintaining and ensuring accounting and company procedures
- Excellent writing in both Spanish and English (a third language is a plus)
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Quick Books, SAP, Oracle, Xero)
- Strong knowledge of relevant accounting standards
- Financial reporting and analysis
- General ledger reconciliation
- Tax preparation and compliance
- Audit support and internal controls
- Strong numerical and analytical skills
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to identify trends and discrepancies
- 2-5 years of Agency and/or other service-firm or professional services related accounting/finance experience
- BS degree in Accounting, Finance and/or related field
- Quick Books software experience is a big plus
