Salary :
ARate Clerkis responsible for determining and calculating shipping costs and associated fees for freight and cargo, drawing on extensive knowledge of tariffs, regulations, and company policies. This role ensures accurate billing, cost-effective shipping decisions, and clear communication with internal teams and customers.
Key ResponsibilitiesRate Cost Calculation
- Compile all fees and shipping-related charges.
- Apply tariff information and contract regulatory guidelines to determine accurate rates.
- Prepare detailed, itemized statements and invoices for billing and submission to Accounts Payable.
- Ensure all billed charges align with documented services.
- Verify the accuracy of charge and supporting documentation prior to invoicing.
- Identify and correct charges discrepancies.
- Enter Rates on bills of ladings and maintain organized, compliant records.
- File required documents and ensured they are accessible for audits and internal reviews.
- Contact Traffic coordinator to confirm account information and resolve questions related to billing or account status.
- Coordinate with internal departments to clarify service details and charges.
- Consult rate tariffs, Fillings & Contracts to verify charges.
- Stay current with industry regulations and rate changes.
- Identify billing errors, adjust invoices as necessary, and help resolve payment disputes promptly and professionally.
- Technical Proficiency :
Skilled in computer systems, spreadsheet software, and basic bookkeeping tools (e.g., calculators, accounting software). - Analytical & Mathematical Ability :
Strong numerical accuracy, data analysis, and problem-solving capabilities. - Organizational Skills :
Ability to maintain accurate records and manage multiple billing tasks efficiently. - Communication :
Clear verbal and written communication for customer interactions and internal coordination. - Foundational Accounting Knowledge :
Understanding of basic accounting and business principles. - Communicate in English and Spanish fluently
