Senior Technical Accountant

Location:

Swatch Group supplies nearly all components required by its 16 watch brands and supplies movements and components to third‑party watchmakers in Switzerland and around the world. As a Senior Technical Accountant at Swatch Group, U.S., you will play a pivotal role in ensuring accurate financial reporting and compliance with U.S. GAAP and IFRS standards while managing day‑to‑day accounting operations. This position blends hands‑on responsibilities with advanced technical expertise, supporting multiple profit and cost centers including retail, e‑commerce, and wholesale and safeguarding the integrity of financial reporting through rigorous analysis and adherence to accounting standards.

You will also contribute to consolidation activities during monthly and annual close, ensuring seamless coordination across multiple brands and delivering insights that drive business decisions.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  • Own the full accounting cycle for multiple profit centers, ensuring timely and accurate transaction processing and reporting.
  • Lead technical accounting activities, including research and application of GAAP/IFRS for new transactions, accounting policies, and emerging standards.
  • Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations for month‑end and year‑end close.
  • Maintain accounting controls by reviewing, preparing, and recommending policies and procedures.
  • Perform complex account analyses, including P&L and Balance Sheet roll‑forwards, variance explanations, and trend analysis.
  • Maintain and report on fixed assets, including depreciation schedules and impairment assessments.
  • Support intercompany activities by ensuring accurate balances across entities and resolving discrepancies during close.
  • Serve as a technical resource during audits, providing documentation and guidance on accounting treatments.
  • Collaborate on special projects, including system enhancements, process automation, and technical accounting initiatives to assist the company in achieving its goals and objectives.
  • Research and respond to inquiries from internal stakeholders, management, and external auditors.
  • Drive continuous improvement in accounting processes and reporting accuracy.
Professional Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required; CPA or near‑completion (finalist level) is required.
  • 5–8 years of experience in public accounting or corporate accounting with a strong technical focus.
  • Deep knowledge of U.S. GAAP and IFRS.
  • Experience with multiple profit and cost centers accounting and consolidation processes.
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong learning ability and problem‑solving skills.
  • Proficiency in SAP and advanced Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, complex formulas).
  • Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong time‑management skills and ability to be both effective and efficient in work.

Physical Requirements:

This is primarily a sedentary office position. The Senior Technical Accountant must operate computer equipment, speak, hear, bend, stoop, reach, lift, and move and carry up to 25 lbs. Finger dexterity is necessary.
