Position Summary: The Senior Staff Accountant will play a critical role in managing the company’s financial processes, including journal entries, accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), reconciliations, financial reporting, and payroll (using automated systems). This role requires a detail-oriented professional with advanced accounting expertise to support financial reporting, compliance, and strategic decision-making for our two operating assets.
Responsibilities- Prepare and post journal entries to maintain accurate general ledger records in accordance with GAAP.
- Oversee accounts payable (AP) processes, including invoice processing, vendor payments, and expense tracking to optimize cash flow.
- Manage accounts receivable (AR) functions, including invoicing, collections, and preparing AR aging reports to monitor receivables.
- Perform monthly account reconciliations (bank, merchant, and balance sheet accounts) to ensure data integrity and resolve discrepancies.
- Generate accurate financial reports, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and ad hoc reports for management and stakeholders.
- Process payroll using automated systems (e.g., ADP, Paychex), ensuring accurate recording of earnings, deductions, and tax compliance.
- Lead month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
- Assist with external audits by preparing schedules, documentation, and responding to auditor inquiries.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, tax regulations, and other financial reporting requirements.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and special projects to enhance financial performance and operational efficiency.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CMA certification is a plus.
- 4+ years of accounting experience, preferably in [Insert Industry, e.g., real estate, hospitality, or technology].
- Proven expertise in journal entries, AP, AR, account reconciliations, financial reporting, and automated payroll systems.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and regulatory financial compliance.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Quick Books, Net Suite, or Xero) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Experience with financial analysis and reporting for multiple assets or business units is preferred.
