Andaz Miami Beach is now recruiting a Pastry Cook to join the hotel’s team. An art-deco building and architectural landmark is home to the newest luxury lifestyle hotel located in the heart of Mid-beach. The property boasts 287 guestrooms including 64 breathtaking suites and the ONLY Ocean-view arrival experience in Miami Beach. The design features elements of texture, art, and pops of color that create a unique and captivating experience.
Each suite is designed with floor-to-ceiling windows, most with deep-soaking tubs, and cozy reading nooks. Guests can also enjoy private outdoor terraces with stunning views of the Atlantic and the Miami skyline. Unmatched amenities include a full-service spa, a well-equipped fitness center, a destination dining experience by José Andrés, two pools, and a Beach Club catering to the who’s who of Miami.

Position Summary
A Pastry Cook is detailed oriented and able to multi-task effectively in order to accomplish various tasks throughout the day while keeping the guest experience in mind at all times. Demonstrates genuine passion for creating memorable experiences for others and truly connecting with guests and fellow team members.
Position Responsibilities/ Essential Functions
- Proper prep/production of all baked goods and dessert items ordered by outlets in accordance with standardized recipes
- Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all departmental policies and service procedures
- Maintain complete knowledge of correct maintenance and use of equipment, and use equipment only as intended.
- Control food cost by following established portion control procedure.
- Adheres to the proper garnishing and presentation of food.
- Uses a variety of high quality food items that are creatively well prepared, presented and flavorful.
- Utilizes food products to eliminate waste.
- Complete any special requests/amenities ordered by outlets or other departments after Chef’s approval.
- Produce and plate Banquet pastries and desserts in a timely manner and to specification
- Communicate to Chef any irregularities with raw ingredients and or finished products
- Plate dessert as ordered from the POS system.
- Assist the kitchen staff in any prep duties that the Chef may request
- Assist with Bakers duties wherever necessary to ensure smooth running of pastries and baked goods for all operations.
- Prepare basic pastry ingredients to complete finished menu items
- Keep work area clean and organized maintaining health, MSDS and OSHA regulations
- Cater wrap and clearly label, date and initial all food products to be served or stored.
- Maintain daily sanitation assignments and logs.
- Maintain temperature logs.
- Promote work environment conducive to teamwork.
- Clean work station including scrubbing with soap and water all work surfaces, ovens and refrigeration units
- Attend all scheduled training and meeting sessions.
- Complete various additional tasks and assignments as needed.
Pastry Cook Requirements and Qualifications
- Minimum of one (1) year of high end pastry and dessert production and plating
- Must have complete competency with English Weights & Measures to complete standardized recipes
- Experience in fast paced high end restaurant environment
