Overview
Your Mission:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Analytics Engineer to join our growing data engineering team. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of success in designing, developing, and maintaining Looker dashboards and explores. This role requires a deep understanding of Looker's capabilities and a strong ability to translate complex business requirements into effective data visualizations. Experience with Big Query and dbt is a plus.
- Design, develop, and maintain Looker dashboards, explores, and data models to meet the evolving needs of the business.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
- Develop and maintain Looker data models, ensuring data accuracy, consistency, and performance.
- Write efficient and well-documented LookML code.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to Looker dashboards and explores.
- Contribute to the ongoing improvement of our Looker platform and processes.
- Work closely with other members of the data engineering team to ensure data quality and consistency.
- Proactively identify and address potential performance bottlenecks in Looker.
- Manage code using Git version control, including branching, merging, and pull requests.
- Extensive experience in LookML development, including creating custom visualizations and calculations.
- Deep understanding of Looker's data modeling capabilities, including joins, aggregations, and calculated fields.
- Experience with Looker's security and access control features.
- Proficiency in using Looker's explore functionality to perform ad-hoc data analysis.
- Experience with Looker"s scheduling and alerting features.
- Experience optimizing Looker dashboards and explores for performance.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Data Science, or a related field.
- 3+ years of hands-on experience with Looker, including designing and developing dashboards and explores.
- Proven ability to translate complex business requirements into effective data visualizations.
- Strong understanding of data warehousing principles and best practices.
- Experience with Big Query and dbt is a plus.
- Experience with Git version control systems (e.g., Git Hub, Git Lab, Bitbucket).
- Good communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
