Overview

Are you a compassionate, dependable person who enjoys helping others? Waystone is seeking a dedicated direct care worker to join our team and make a real difference in the lives of those we serve. As a Residential Skills Instructor or Awake Overnight staff, you provide essential support and companionship to individuals who need help with daily activities in a residential home.

Location

Methuen, MA (Group home setting)

Part Time Schedules 25+ hours per week

This position is benefit eligible as of date of hire.

Compensation

Non-exempt full-time/part-time positions. The hourly rate is $21.00. You will be a member of SEIU Local 509.

Group Home Details

As a residential skills instructor or Awake Overnight staff, you will be assisting 4 individuals aged 22 and up with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as feeding, cooking, cleaning, personal hygiene assistance, documentation, and medication administration. You will use a wheelchair van to transport individuals to appointments and community activities. During overnight hours, you will remain alert, conduct routine wellness checks, and provide personal care support, including toileting assistance and brief changes as needed.

Job Responsibilities
  • Assist individuals with daily living activities such as personal hygiene assistance (toileting assistance/brief changing), bathing, dressing, feeding, grooming, transferring, and meal preparation.
  • Able and willing to assist with heavy lifting and driving wheelchair-accessible company vans. Responsible for transporting individuals to appointments, community events, or recreational activities.
  • Complete Individual Support Plans (ISP) to support individuals in achieving personal goals and promoting independence.
  • Complete daily logs and notes, track behavioral data.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Assist with medication administration and maintain accurate documentation as required.
  • Provide companionship, mentorship, and redirecting behaviors.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and supportive residential program.
  • Uphold individuals’ rights, dignity, and confidentiality at all times.
  • Maintaining the program’s staff-to-resident ratio, money management, providing home management, and redirecting behaviors.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Ability to read, write, and comprehend English to accurately follow care plans, document services provided, and communicate effectively with individuals, families, and healthcare professionals
  • Experience in providing training, case management, and appropriate service delivery to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities living in the community
  • MAP (Medication Administration Program) Certification; training offered by Waystone to acquire certification within 6 months of employment
  • CPR/First Aid; training offered by Waystone to acquire certification within 3 months of employment
  • Valid Driver’s License in good standing with a minimum of one year of driving experience
