Description
As a Registered Home Infusion Nurse, you will be responsible for providing specialized nursing care to patients in their homes. You will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care plans and administering intravenous medications and treatments. You will also be responsible for educating patients and their families about home care, medications, and treatments. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as a dedication to providing the highest quality of care.
On‑call requirements are based on region and state.

Requirements- Must be a Registered Nurse in the state inquiring of employment and in good standing
- Must have a valid driver’s license and automobile insurance
- Professional Liability Insurance
- CPR Certification
- Knowledge of PIV, Mid‑Line, PICC Line, Tunneled Catheters, and Ports
- At least 2 years’ experience as a home infusion nurse, or equivalent experience working in another field‑based home nursing organization, is required
- ED experience preferred
- Demonstrated proficiency in IV insertion, vascular access devices, and infusion pumps
- Specific training and/or certification as a heart failure nurse is highly desirable
- Strong pediatric peripheral IV skills preferred
- Certified Nurse Infusionist (CRNI) preferred
- Experience with the following IV therapies is a major advantage: inotropes, intravenous immunoglobulin, and Total Parenteral Nutrition (TPN)
- Conduct initial nursing assessments and evaluations to qualify patients for appropriate and safe home infusion therapy, along with any other needed specialized nursing care
- Train patients and/or caregivers in all procedures and equipment
- Develop and revise, when necessary, the patient’s plan of care with the patient, family, pharmacist, and physician
- Visit all assigned patients as ordered, and document patient’s compliance, competence, and tolerance to the benefits of prescribed therapy and interventions
- Provide direct patient care as ordered and allowed by state law
- Assume on‑call responsibility as assigned on a routine basis
- Inventory patient supplies and inform pharmacy of patient’s needs
- Coordinate patient’s care with other home‑care agencies as necessary
- Counsel patients on therapy management, side effects, and other pertinent issues relative to the patient’s disease/condition and other concerns based on manufacturer guidelines and comorbidities
- Collaborate with the pharmacist for clinical recommendations for a change to therapy or other supportive measures to enhance the patient’s response to therapy, as appropriate (infusion rate, pre‑medications, supplies, etc.)
- Plan daily events to be as efficient as possible with time management (e.g., minimize travel time by planning routes ahead of time)
- Submit professional nursing notes for each patient visit into the enterprise system immediately following each IV therapy session
- Properly triage problems in the field in accordance with company standards and other verbal and written training policies
- Maintain strong knowledge of Prompt Care’s Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and ensure they are applied consistently
- Maintain compliance to all applicable laws, regulations, and SOPs always
- Conduct activities with a mindset of delivering “white glove” service to patients and family members
- Submit expense reports for travel at least once monthly and in a timely manner
- Project a positive attitude always with patients and family members and get involved in Prompt Care’s employee activities
- Per diem/part‑time registered nurses are expected to make every attempt to provide nursing services for PC per request. This request may be made on short notice, but PC will make every effort to provide as much notice as possible
- Hours may vary due to the nature of home infusion; weekend and evening hours are required
- Other duties as assigned
