Metairie, LA / New Orleans, LA

Reporting to the Office Manager, the Revenue Cycle Specialist will be responsible for processing, reviewing, and filing insurance to the resolution of the claim payment. You will also assist patients with billing questions and the collection of patient balances. Many of ACS Clients' accounts require team effort while other accounts may require independent workers to complete all aspects of the billing process.

You may be responsible for multiple accounts with functions varying with each account. Assignment of accounts may fluctuate as ACS Client base changes.

• Performs various functions in the processing of insurance billing and collections, including Medicaid/Medicare claims according to the established policies and procedures
• Collects and enters patient’s insurance information into ACS Compumed System
• Reviews, verifies, and submits insurance claims
• Processes correspondence from third party payors and responds to patient requests
• Follows up with insurance companies and ensures claims are paid in a timely manner
• Resubmits insurance claims that have received no response
• Answers telephones and provides/obtains information to resolve billing and collection issues
• Maintains supporting billing information for future reference or audit purposes

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• 1 year of insurance AR and post-claim follow-up experience preferred
• Physician claim billing experience preferred
  
  Knowledge of medical terminology
• Knowledge of insurance industry
• Skilled in using computer programs and applications
