What We Are Looking ForNext Care Urgent Care seeks an energetic and enthusiastic Medical Assistant who thrives in a fast‑paced environment and enjoys working in a team. We value customer‑friendly, passionate employees who put patients and coworkers first.
Responsibilities- Assists provider with exams (including patient vitals), procedures, and other direct patient care tasks under provider supervision and within the scope of practice.
- Administers medications according to policy and provider direction, adhering to all safety protocols.
- Performs blood draws as directed by the provider.
- May be responsible for urine collection for various testing, including employer drug screens.
- May perform splinting and casting.
- Conducts various physicals such as sports physicals.
- Provides additional urgent‑care services such as ear lavage, wound care, and oxygen administration.
- Notifies the provider on duty promptly of all unusual patient occurrences, including medication events on an incident report.
- Notifies the Clinic Manager promptly of patient or employee safety concerns.
- Follows guidelines and requirements of laboratory and clinical accreditation policies.
- Is proficient in EMR/EHR systems.
- Performs other related duties as assigned or described by company policy.
When supporting front‑office reception, the Medical Assistant may:
- Keep patients and families informed of wait times.
- Monitor patient flow.
- Process patients for discharge, including preparing charges, collecting payment, obtaining signatures, and issuing receipts.
The Medical Assistant provides customer service and treats all patients with respect and dignity. They ensure the clinic and front‑reception area run smoothly and maintain optimal patient flow while delivering essential medical support in the back‑office setting.
Essential Education, Experience, and Skills ARIZONAEducation:
Minimum high‑school diploma or equivalent; AND
- Completed an APPROVED (accredited) Medical Assistant training program.
OR
- Completed an UNAPPROVED (non‑accredited) Medical Assistant training program AND obtained a National Certification through one of the following:
- American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) – Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) exam and certification; or
- American Medical Technologists (AMT) – Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) exam and certification; or
- National Health career Association (NHA) – Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) exam and certification.
Education:
Minimum high‑school diploma or equivalent; AND
- Completed an APPROVED (accredited) Medical Assistant training program.
OR
- Completed an UNAPPROVED (non‑accredited) Medical Assistant training program AND obtained a National Certification through one of the following:
- American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) – Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) exam and certification; or
- American Medical Technologists (AMT) – Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) exam and certification; or
- National Health career Association (NHA) – Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) exam and certification.
OR
- Completed an UNAPPROVED medical assistant training program and was employed as a medical assistant for one (1) year or more after completion, or has verifiable work experience directly supervised by a provider or physician group for at least 2,000 hours or 1 year.
