Overview
XR PRN Float tech role at Akumin®. As a PRN Radiologic (X-Ray) Technologist, you are responsible for producing diagnostic radiographic images for medical interpretation through administration of ionizing radiation. The X-ray technologist will independently perform or assist the licensed practitioner in the completion of diagnostic exams. This position requires flexibility with availability as a per-diem technologist, responding promptly to coverage requests due to absences or vacations, and covering at minimum one shift in a 30 day period.
Responsibilities- Administer ionizing radiation to obtain diagnostic exams as ordered by the physician and, consistent with applicable legal requirements, exercise individual thought, judgment and discretion in the procedure.
- Demonstrate competency with differing X-ray equipment; effectively communicate with patients and/or radiologists; maintain quality that meets or exceeds customer expectations through a team-oriented approach.
- Address concerns, solve problems, and manage conflicts using all channels of communication; maintain patient and staff confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA.
- Demonstrate proficiency with EMR systems, as well as PACS and DICOM systems for image sharing and interpretation.
- Train and orient new technologists and patient coordinators as needed; complete annual and ongoing education and site-specific competencies/in-services as designated by leadership.
- Other duties as assigned by leadership.
- High School Diploma or equivalent experience required;
Associate’s Degree or equivalent experience preferred. - ARRT (R) certification.
- State license, if applicable, required.
- CPR Certification and BLS from AHA or ARC; ACLS certification where applicable.
- Valid state driver’s license, as applicable, required.
- Ability to work at several locations; strong customer service, organizational, multi-tasking, and critical thinking skills.
- Basic knowledge of computer applications and programs; local travel may be required.
- Associate’s Degree or Equivalent Experience.
- 1 year of x-ray experience.
The employee may be exposed to outside weather conditions during transport of patients if working on a mobile unit and may be exposed to a strong magnetic field. May be exposed to blood/body fluids and infectious disease.
More than 50% of the time: sit, stand, walk; repetitive movement of hands, arms and legs; see, speak and hear to communicate with patients.
Less than 50% of the time: stoop, kneel or crawl; climb and balance; carry and lift (ability to move non-ambulatory patients from a sitting or lying position for transfer or to exam).
