DEFINITION
To clean and repair streets, sewer lines, storm drains and traffic signs throughout the City.
Examples of Duties
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITY:

the assistance of reasonable accommodation.)
* Serve as a representative of the City of Mesquite, demonstrating a positive attitude and progressive actions through the display of professionalism, courtesy, and appropriate tact and discretion in all interactions with other employees and with the public,.
* Maintain city lots and right-of-ways; mow, spray and trim trees. Removes debris and illegally dumped garbage from City property. Maintain barricades, street signs, and other traffic control devices.
* Assist streets crew with daily tasks.
* Perform tasks such as cleaning vehicles, equipment and shop, pouring and finishing concrete and weed abatement.
* Paint curbs, work with road striping crew.
* Be dependable and meet acceptable attendance requirements at all times.
* Follow all applicable safety rules and regulations.
OTHER

Typical Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
The degree of knowledge and ability as outlined under this section is that which is necessary to satisfactory perform the essential functions of this position
Knowledge of:
* Basic maintenance and repair methods and procedures used in assigned area.
* Safe and effective operating practices of light equipment used in assigned area.
Ability to:
* Operate light equipment and power tools used in public works maintenance operations.
* Work independently or as part of a crew.
* Follow directions and have a desire to learn.
* Perform hard physical labor under confined and uncomfortable conditions.
* Ability to work flexible hours including weekends, holidays and special events.
* Communicate effectively and courteously with City employees and the public.
Experience, Education & Training:
Any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience which provides the individual with the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job. A typical way to obtain the required knowledge and abilities would be:
Education:
High School diploma or G.E.D.
Experience:
Experience with concrete.
Training:
No training necessary.
License or Certificate:
Must possess at the time of employment and continuously throughout employment a valid Nevada or "border state" driver's license, as defined by NRS 483.
