Driver (Maintenance)

Assists residents with loading and unloading from facility-approved vehicles. Ensures the safe transportation of residents to scheduled medical appointments or other approved activities, resident outings, etc. Maintains the interior and exterior of facility vehicles to promote safe and comfortable transport and project a positive community image. Monitors vehicle maintenance logs and arranges for scheduled maintenance such as oil changes and tire rotations.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Must be flexible with work hours, especially if resident appointments or activities run late.

Must have training and demonstrate safe clinical transfer techniques, including ingress and egress of mobile patients, transferring patients into and out of wheelchairs, and properly securing wheelchair-bound residents into vehicle bays.

Must be able to lift, transfer, and mobilize patient weights of up to 70 pounds in confined spaces inside the van. Must be capable of making complex decisions involving highly dependent patients.

Supervisory Requirements: This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED
• Minimum age: 25 years old
• Valid driver’s license
• Familiarity with GPS and local driving areas
• No traffic crimes in the last 7 years, including DUI, DWS, reckless driving, or traffic felonies
• Not more than 2 moving violations or one accident in the last 3 years
• Successful completion of drug screening and background check

Skills:

• Ability to read, write, and understand instructions and manuals
• Effective communication skills with managers, coworkers, and residents
• Ability to apply mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions
• Problem-solving and interpretative skills for various instructions

Certifications: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; completed CNA training and maintaining all continuing education requirements.

Physical Demands: Must occasionally lift/move up to 75 pounds. Regularly sit, stand, walk, talk, read, and hear.

Work Environment: Usually low to moderate noise levels. Reasonable accommodations available for disabilities.
