Compensation
- Communications Technician I: $20‑$23/hr (DOE)
- Communications Technician II: $24‑$27/hr (DOE)
We are seeking Communications Technicians to support large‑scale structured cabling and data center build‑out projects at the Edge Core Data Center in East Mesa. Technicians will install, test, and troubleshoot copper and fiber infrastructure in new construction and active data hall environments.
Communications Technician I – Responsibilities- Pull, route, and install structured cabling (Cat5e, Cat6, fiber).
- Install J‑hooks, cable tray, ladder rack, and other pathway hardware.
- Assist with rack assembly and basic terminations.
- Support higher level technicians with testing, labeling, and troubleshooting.
- Follow all safety, quality, and site standards.
- Acts as an advanced installer and crew lead.
- Perform all Level I responsibilities with expert proficiency.
- Terminate and test Cat3/Cat5/Cat6 cabling and fiber connections.
- Install work area outlets, faceplates, surface boxes, and modular furniture drops.
- Build and dress IDF/MDF closets (racks, patch panels, grounding, backboards).
- Complete IDC terminations (110/66 blocks), cross‑connects, and patch panels.
- Conduct continuity testing, toning, troubleshooting, and verification of active circuits.
- Lead small installer teams, coordinate daily tasks, and train junior technicians.
- Complete all required project documentation (timesheets, work orders, material logs).
- Ensure adherence to company, customer, and industry safety/quality standards.
- Screwdrivers, snips, pliers, drywall saw, tape measure, level, hammer, cable stripper, flashlight, gloves.
- Punch tool (110 & 66), tone set, combo crimp tool, Krone/3M/BIX tools.
Skills & Qualifications
- Rack assembly and installation experience.
- Expertise in terminations, testing, and cable certification.
- Fiber experience (installation, polishing, or prefabricated termination).
- Knowledge of color codes, low‑voltage wiring standards, and troubleshooting.
- BICSI certification preferred.
- Experience with OSP routing is a plus.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work in fast‑paced environments.
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.
