OverviewAbout Hands On Greater Phoenix:
For nearly 30 years, Hands On Greater Phoenix has worked with nonprofits, Title I schools, neighborhood associations and government entities to assess and meet the volunteer needs of the Greater Phoenix area. The Hands On VISTA program supports members at multiple placement sites across the valley. Our VISTA members enable our community service partners to expand capacity and build infrastructure by creating the processes and tools needed to effectively access and utilize valuable resources.
Hands On VISTA members will improve capacity for leading communities during and beyond their terms of service by developing their knowledge, skills, and abilities related to volunteering, civic engagement, and other areas. In addition to the site-specific work of the individual role, all of our VISTA members participate in 2 Ameri Corps of Service, lead projects at 2 Hands On community service days, attend monthly VISTA team trainings with the other Hands On VISTA members, and participate in monthly community volunteering project opportunities.

Join The Welcome to America Project to help build organizational capacity to scale Career Bridging efforts and increase job readiness for refugees. In 2024, Arizona resettled more refugees than ever before while public assistance continues to decline. WTAP fills critical gaps by strengthening sustainable programs that support refugee stability and self-sufficiency. The VISTA will focus on capacity building by developing core program infrastructure and documentation;
formalizing partnerships with community organizations; improving sourcing and operational systems for the Bike Program; strengthening volunteer training and coordination systems; enhancing warehouse efficiency materials; creating standardized case-note frameworks; and developing tools to track program metrics and outcomes. These efforts will enable WTAP to scale impact, improve refugee self-sufficiency, and deepen community engagement.
