Overview
Serve with the City of Phoenix, Public Health Office as part of the Hands On VISTA Team. Hands On Greater Phoenix partners with nonprofits, Title I schools, neighborhood associations and government entities to assess and meet volunteer needs in the Greater Phoenix area. The Hands On VISTA program supports members at multiple placement sites across the valley, enabling partners to expand capacity by creating processes and tools to access and utilize resources.
VISTA members will develop knowledge and skills related to volunteering, civic engagement, and other areas, and will participate in site-specific work while also engaging in program activities.

Member Duties: Join the City of Phoenix:
Public Health Office to launch substance abuse prevention programming in a heavily impacted community. Design systems and tools to promote youth programs, create internal frameworks and process maps to coordinate youth prevention efforts, and ensure public engagement and outreach activities are assigned to staff. The future member should have a background in public health, school-based programming, and/or working with teenage youth engagement.
Spanish and/or knowledge of Phoenix school systems is helpful but not required.
