CNC Swiss Lathe SUO – All Shifts – copy
ResponsibilitiesCompletely and independently set-up and operate a computerized numerically controlled Tsugami machine with Fanuc controls. Perform a series of machine operations on components to close and exacting tolerances and finish per designated specifications. Troubleshoot and resolve problems related to machined parts.
- Sets up Tsugami machine, making required adjustments to tooling, collets, etc. Troubleshoots and resolves various problems related to the set-up and operation of tooling, work holding, etc. of an auto‑loading CNC machine tool.
- Read and interpret drawings, programs, and other documentation to visualize machining required and sequence of operations.
- Make input to CNC consistent with set-up procedure. Perform dry run to verify setup prior to production run. Recognize and report errors on programming and operations. Collaborate with appropriate personnel in correcting errors.
- Provide necessary counts, processes documentation correctly, and maintain daily production logs or production worksheets.
- Utilize SPC techniques and methods to ensure workflow efficiency.
- May be required to perform other jobs as needed by the company.

- The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
- Environmental surroundings – Work is in a machine shop environment where noise, temperature fluctuations, the competitive nature of the job, etc. are less desirable than a typical office environment.
- Unavoidable hazards – Possible hazards related to cuts, bruises, finger and hand injuries, and muscle strains. Exposure to moving mechanical parts, metalworking fluids, and airborne particles. Appropriate protective wear regarding eye, ear and clothing are required.
- Equipment / Process responsibilities – Performs duties where significant property, tools, equipment or machines may be damaged, or man‑hours lost, through improper daily maintenance and attention to processing. Inputs set-ups and maintains CNC machines for the jobs performed. Performs Total Productive Maintenance as required.
- Material or product responsibilities – Performs duties that require close attention to work and supporting documentation, specifications and other requirements. Responsible for accuracy of parts formed. Visually and/or with measuring instruments, checks work performed for proper results.
- Safety responsibilities – Good housekeeping, knowledge of good machine safety is necessary as well as adherence to and enforcement of Company Safety Rules.
- Position type / Expected Hours of Work – This is a full‑time position. Hours of work may vary dependent on operational needs.
$21 - $27/hr
QualificationsRequired Education and Experience
Requires 1-3 years’ work experience or equivalent skills and knowledge.
Preferred Education and Experience
3-5 years’ work experience or equivalent skills and knowledge. Expertise in the set‑up and operation of Tsugami machine with Fanuc controls. Familiar with and capable of using Statistical Process Control. Read precision measuring instruments such as comparators, indicators, calipers and micrometers.
Knowledge and Skills
Demonstrated ability to read and write English of a level required in company shop documents. Must have good interpersonal skills as well as good written and verbal communications. Assist other employees as required. Must demonstrate and be capable of applying mathematical operations using fractions, decimals, trigonometry and geometry as required by machining operations. Generally equivalent to journeyman trade school graduate.
