WhatYou’ll Do
- Ensure safety programs are compliant (Injury Illness Prevention, Hazard Identification, Hazard Control and Correction, CMC safety regulations, policies and procedures)
- Conduct on‑site safety inspections to identify hazards and ensure compliance with OSHA and CMCA safety programs
- Perform branch key performance indicator audits
- Assist in the investigation of injuries, accidents and safety complaints to determine causes and corrective actions and follow up to assure that action are taken
- Prepare reports regarding inspections and investigations
- Provide safety information, consultation, training and support to CMCA facilities such as CPR/FA training and behavior‑based safety programs (ORO & RID)
- Facilitate/lecture/train employees regarding compliance with OSHA, and CMCA policies and procedures, as needed
- Assist in DOT compliance if time and ability allows
- Implement OSHA compliance at branches, including shutting down operations in the event of imminent danger or significant threat to safety or health
- Work with Regional Safety Manager to determine solutions to safety and health problems and policies to address safety and health issues
- Participate with local management and safety personnel in regulatory inspections of CMCA facilities
- Assist in developing job safety analysis and training for specific tasks
- Provide support and assistance to branch safety coordinators and area safety managers
- Assist in compliance with visitor control policies throughout the region
- Perform other duties as assigned
- ASSE membership and/or certifications a plus
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to communicate up, down, and across the business
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and other business applications
- Knowledge of OSHA and DOT regulations
- Ability to conceptualize, develop and execute safety initiatives
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Willingness to work flexible hours
- Strong interpersonal skills and comfort interacting with a variety of employees at all levels with the ability to influence actions of others
- Strong skills in the application of accident prevention techniques, safety committee instruction, worker’s compensation and effectively addressing physical, behavioral, and administrative contributors to preventing workplace injuries
- Motivate employees to follow the safety culture through administration of a Proactive Safety Measure program and consistent communication of CMC safety standards
- Minimum 5 years experience in a safety‑related field
- Good analysis and evaluation skills
- Bachelor’s degree required. Industrial/environmental safety, construction management or a related discipline preferred
- A combination of formal education and/or directly related work experience may substitute for the degree
- OSHA 30 Construction
- OSHA 500/510 Preferred
- Current First Aid/CPR/AED designation a plus
