Scope of Position

The Pool Technician is responsible for the daily upkeep, cleaning, chemical balancing, and overall maintenance of the hotel’s swimming pool, hot tubs, and related facilities. This position ensures all water features are safe, clean, and in full compliance with Arizona state health and safety regulations
, delivering an excellent guest experience.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Monitor, test, and balance pool water chemistry (pH, chlorine, alkalinity, etc.) to meet Arizona health standards.
  • Clean and vacuum pools, hot tubs, and surrounding deck areas; remove debris and maintain water clarity.
  • Inspect, operate, and maintain pool equipment including pumps, filters, heaters, and chemical feeders.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and minor repairs on pool and spa systems.
  • Ensure pool area is clean, organized, and equipped with safety devices, signage, and supplies.
  • Maintain daily logs of water chemistry readings and maintenance activities as required by Arizona regulations.
  • Respond promptly to guest concerns or service requests related to pool facilities.
  • Comply with all federal, state, and local codes related to pool operation and safety.
  • Assist with seasonal opening, closing, and any special pool-related projects.
  • Coordinate with other hotel departments to ensure guest satisfaction and a safe environment.
Qualifications & Skills
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Current Arizona Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certification is required (must maintain active certification).
  • Previous experience in pool and spa maintenance, preferably in a hotel or resort environment.
  • Strong knowledge of water chemistry, pool system operations, and safety procedures.
  • Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and equipment issues.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organization, and safety awareness.
  • Good communication and guest service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, bend, stoop, and work outdoors in varying Arizona weather conditions.
Work Environment

This position involves working outdoors in heat, sun exposure, and around pool chemicals. Weekends, holidays, and variable shifts may be required based on hotel operations and pool usage.
