Employment & CompensationEmployment Type:
Full-time (40 hours per week)
2nd Shift Evening (Plus $0.35/hr shift pay)
Base Hourly: $17.53
Class/Calendar: A13, 12 months

Performance Pay: Available annually

Experience:
1% of the base hourly rate granted for each year of verified like experience (within ten years) beyond the requirement, up to a ten-year maximum

Education:
1% of the base hourly rate awarded for an AA or higher degree if not required for the position
- Spot and clean carpets using appropriate methods, equipment and chemicals
- Respond to emergency calls
- Act as lead for summer carpet crew teams when needed
- Perform other related duties, as assigned, to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit
- Regular and on-time attendance required
- Act as custodial substitute or assist custodial staff for special projects
- Assist other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities
- Assists with other assigned duties as appropriate to the area of assignment and Mesa Public Schools
- Valid, or must obtain within six (6) months, IICRC certification
- Must have and maintain valid Arizona driver’s license to operate district vehicles
- Minimum one year custodial experience
- Experience in proper carpet cleaning procedures, chemicals and equipment
- High School education or equivalent preferred
- Experience in gym floor refinishing preferred

- Ability to operate truck mount carpet extractor, ride-on carpet extractor and high-lift machine up to 25’
- Ability to safely operate various heavy duty carpet cleaning equipment
- Ability to perform work assignments in accordance with verbal and/or written instructions; to effectively communicate (verbal and written)
- Ability to establish and to maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with customers, coworkers and supervisors
- Knowledge of custodial equipment, supplies and proper cleaning procedures for various carpet maintenance
Physical Requirements
- Primarily works inside school buildings but may need to clean entryways or transport equipment outside
- Often works evening or night shifts to clean after school hours; may include early mornings or weekends
- Handles commercial-grade carpet cleaning solutions, which require proper safety precautions
- Regularly lifts and moves heavy equipment (up to 50 lbs), such as carpet extractors, vacuums, and chemical containers
- Long periods of walking, standing, and moving throughout school buildings
- Works with loud equipment like carpet extractors, vacuums, and blowers
