Custodian - Red Mountain High School

Mesa Public Schools invites applications for the Custodian position at Red Mountain High School.

Employment Type: Full-time (40 hours per week)
Shift: 2nd Shift Evening (plus $.35/hr shift pay)

Base Hourly: $16.87

Class/Calendar: A12, 12 months

Performance Pay: Available annually

New Hire

Experience:

1% of the base hourly rate granted for each year of verified similar experience (within ten years) beyond the requirement, up to a ten-year maximum

New Hire

Education:

1% of the base hourly rate awarded for an AA or higher degree if not required for the position

Job Summary: Perform custodial duties as required by district standards; maintain the cleanliness and safe conditions of the school environment.

Drug and Alcohol Testing: Prior to employment or during the first 3 months of the probation period, all new contract employees will undergo testing. A confirmed positive test disqualifies the applicant.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform custodial duties as required by district standards
  • Perform a variety of tasks daily to maintain cleanliness and safety of schools
  • Operate custodial power equipment
  • Assist in moving equipment and furniture as required
  • Maintain regular and on-time attendance
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to ensure efficient functioning of the work unit
Required Qualifications
  • Working knowledge and experience of custodial equipment, supplies, and proper cleaning procedures
Preferred Qualifications
  • High School education or GED

Work Environment &

Physical Requirements
  • Custodians work inside classrooms, hallways, restrooms, gymnasiums, cafeterias, offices, and outside maintaining school grounds
  • Frequent use of cleaning solutions, disinfectants, and floor treatments requires proper safety precautions
  • Exposure to high temperatures when working outside
  • Requires long periods of standing and walking, covering large areas of the school during shift
  • Frequently bends to clean floors, pick up trash, and access low areas
  • Sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, and other cleaning activities require repetitive arm and hand movements
  • Ability to lift approximately 50 pounds
