Overview

We are seeking a compassionate and enthusiastic candidate to join our team. The Activities Coordinator/Office Assistant creates a stimulating day program environment and develop activity programs to enhance the quality of life for our members and perform administrative and clerical duties.

Responsibilities
  • Identify and develop a varied program of recreational and educational activities based around the needs, abilities, and interests of the members. The program shall offer a variety of formats including one on one, small group, and large groups both in the day program and out in the community.
  • Advertise the planned program in an appropriate manner which encourages involvement of all activities staff, and members.
  • Research new ideas for programs and activities, taking into consideration members’ suggestions.
  • Initiating and planning the monthly calendar in conjunction with the Program Manager as well as communicating effectively with the Supervisor to initiate daily programs and activities.
  • Assist with transporting and/or escorting program participants to, from and within the program and out in the community.
  • Actively influence and encourage members to participate in activities, using positive relationships and personalized interactions.
  • Provide general office administrative duties, including answering phone calls, filing paperwork, preparing documents for meetings, attending meetings, scheduling, and giving day program tours for prospective members, etc.
  • Maintain written records of member assessments, member attendance, participation, activities, funds, goals, and evaluations in line with company policy.
Qualifications, Training and Experience
  • Have a genuine interest in working with people with developmental disabilities.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Bi-lingual a plus
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team environment.
  • Demonstrate a positive, professional appearance and attitude, and sensitivity to members’/family/guardians’ needs and feelings.
