- Provide coverage at other clinics within the region for callouts and other planned paid time off
- Act as the primary trainer for all new hires; mentor and train all patient service representatives on process improvements and updated company policies and procedures
- Greet patients and visitors promptly, courteously, and helpfully; respond to routine requests for information
- Register patients, including obtaining prior authorization, eligibility and benefits, scanning IDs and insurance cards, taking patients pictures in EMR, and confirming demographics and paperwork for accuracy and completion
- Relay benefit information to patients
- Collect patient account balances, co-insurance, copays, deductibles or self-pay estimates; prepare daily batch and deposits
- Interact with patients, family members, visitors, and health care team members; direct questions/complaints to the appropriate department; maintain efficient patient flow during check-in/check-out; check in outside vendors
- Schedule follow-up office visits or procedures, log no-show appointments; ensure proper authorization and/or valid referral documentation; assist in scanning
- Maintain and organize lobby area; ensure clinic is secured at end of day
- Answer phones promptly and courteously; screen and route calls; create phone notes in the EMR and provide information to patients
- Maintain medical records
- All other duties as assigned
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Working knowledge of computer programs
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to understand/perform training on practice management software; continue to expand knowledge as updates occur
- Follow all Standard Operating Procedures
- Excellent customer service
- High school diploma or GED
- One-year medical office experience
