Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Lead Medical Assistant to join our Pediatric Gastroenterology team. This full‑time position plays a key leadership role in supporting clinical operations, assisting with patient care, and ensuring the delivery of high‑quality service in a dynamic pediatric specialty environment.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Must hold a current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification from the American Heart Association.
  • Must be a graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program; possession of MA certification from the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) or American Medical Technologists (AMT) may be accepted in lieu of graduation.
  • Must be RMA (Registered Medical Assistant) through AMT or CMA (Certified Medical Assistant) through AAMA.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of Medical Assistant experience in a healthcare and/or pediatric healthcare setting.
Position Duties
  • Provides floor leadership to assigned clinic(s) and manages appointment & schedule coordination, room oversight, staffing assignments, and compliance monitoring.
  • Leads and facilitates daily huddles for efficient clinical and service operations.
  • Assists with direct patient care and functions as a Medical Assistant when needed.
  • Communicates effectively with families and co‑workers, demonstrating a caring attitude.
  • Initiates first‑line service recovery when appropriate.
  • Supervises and oversees staff, continually monitors competency and scope of practice, and reports concerns to clinical or operational managers.
  • Monitors policies, procedures and compliance of diagnostic tests, including follow‑up communication with patients.
  • Performs quality audits as directed and facilitates the completion of occurrence reports when needed.
  • Serves as a resource to ensure proper onboarding & training of staff, including preceptor course completion, peer leadership training, service excellence, patient flow expectations, and use of tools for reporting.
  • Facilitates interdepartmental and interdisciplinary collaboration, working daily with other leads, Business Manager, Clinical Manager, RNs, NPs, and Physicians to ensure smooth, efficient flow for quality patient care.
  • Maintains credentials, certifications, and licensures; participates in conferences and meetings for educational growth; represents the department as a leader on organizational initiatives.
  • Performs miscellaneous job‑related duties as requested.

  • Lift up to 35 pounds without assistance – Constantly;
    Lift more than 35 pounds without assistance – Occasionally.
  • Occupational exposure:
    Inside office environment, Outdoor weather conditions, Extreme temperatures, Confined areas, High places, Extreme noise levels, Airborne communicable diseases, Bloodborne pathogens or bodily fluid, Fumes or airborne particles, Hazardous materials exposure, Radiation exposure, Toxic or caustic chemicals – Applicable.
