MD Helicopters is seeking an experienced pilot to join our team in a dual role as Maintenance Test Pilot and Instructor Pilot
, with responsibilities for customer delivery flights, demo flights, and training
. This position ensures airworthiness of MD rotorcraft post‑maintenance and production, while providing world‑class instruction and customer support.
- Conduct post‑maintenance, functional check, and acceptance flights on civil and military helicopters per OEM and regulatory standards.
- Verify aircraft systems, performance, and handling qualities following maintenance, modification, or repair.
- Identify, document, and debrief discrepancies with maintenance, engineering, quality, and program teams.
- Ensure compliance with approved civil procedures, military technical orders, and OEM standards.
- Support aircraft delivery, return‑to‑service, and operational readiness activities.
- Serve as PIC for customer delivery and demonstration flights
; represent MD Helicopters at customer events. - Deliver ground, simulator, and flight training for initial, recurrent, and differences courses.
- Develop training materials and maintain compliance with FAA Parts 21/91/134/145
, EASA
, and Military standards. - Maintain strict adherence to safety, risk management, and configuration control.
- FAA Commercial or ATP Rotorcraft‑Helicopter Certificate with Instrument Rating.
- 2,000+ hours total time
; prior maintenance test flight experience preferred. - Proven instructor experience (OEM, Part 135/141, or military equivalent).
- Strong technical knowledge of MD rotorcraft systems, and ability to clearly communicate technical findings in both civil and military environments.
- Military test, instructor, or maintenance test pilot background a plus.
- MD type ratings.
- FAA Designated Engineering Representative (DER) certification or equivalent regulatory authorization (preferred).
- ODA Unit Member (UM) or experience working within an ODA environment (preferred).
- Military engineering authority, flight clearance, or airworthiness delegation experience (preferred).
- Experience supporting certification or airworthiness compliance related to maintenance, modifications, or return‑to‑service.
