Position OverviewBoeing Mesa, home of the AH‑64E Apache, is seeking a Senior Equipment and Tool Engineering Designer located in Mesa, AZ
. The tool engineering team supports products in the final assembly, composite center, fabrication shops, and production flight test centers.
The selected candidate will work with a large team of tool engineers and designers and will collaborate daily with tool liaison, tool quality, and tool stress teammates. Other onsite support areas include tool fabrication, tool inspection, engineering, production safety, and production operators.
Position Responsibilities- Responsible for checking tool design packages for various programs including the Apache, AH‑6 Little Bird, and other BDS and BCA offloads that come into our Tool Engineering team.
- Perform 3D model checks, 2D drawing design checks, verification, and sign‑off on tool designs in relation to the engineering components they will produce.
- Communicate tool engineering best practices and procedures to other production areas such as manufacturing engineering, industrial engineering, and design engineering.
- Provide mentoring to teammates in relation to all Boeing tool design and fabrication procedures and specifications.
- Oversee pre‑program tooling, estimate tool costs, release drawings, support first tool use, and assist our production engineering team.

120.15 is required. “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
- 7+ years of checking experience in an engineering environment.
- 10+ years of tool design experience, including drill jigs, locate & assembly fixtures, bond jigs, lifting equipment, and large‑scale portable mechanical equipment.
- 5+ years working with both metallic and composite tooling.
- 5+ years of experience with 3D software Catia/Enovia and/or NX/Teamcenter.
- 2+ years of college education or associates in an engineering science and/or technology.
- Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing.
- Familiarity with Boeing and/or ASME AWS weld standards and welding symbols.
- Understanding of tool stress analysis requirements, tool proof loads, tool use instructions, and Boeing Tool design D‑documents.
- Strong communication skills and ability to provide direction to early‑career designers and engineers.
- Ability to set up tooling requirements and tool types in collaboration with manufacturing engineers for engineering design programs.
- Problem‑solving skills to troubleshoot tool designs used in production and determine effective design solutions.
Education and Experience
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced education (e.g., Associate) and typically 9 or more years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g., Bachelor + 7 years related work experience).

Pay is based on candidate experience, qualifications, and market considerations.
Typical summary pay range: $97,750 – $132,250
