Energy​/Power Generation Technician, Field​/Service Technician

Purpose Virtus Renewables is seeking reliable and motivated Technician II Solar professionals to support the operations and maintenance of utility-scale solar and battery energy storage systems (BESS) across various project sites throughout the United States. This entry-level field role is designed for technicians developing their skills in electrical and mechanical systems, with a focus on supporting experienced team members during system maintenance, inspections, and repairs.

Technicians at this level receive hands-on training and are expected to contribute to site safety, equipment handling, and work preparation. The role is ideal for individuals with basic construction or mechanical experience and a strong desire to build a career in the renewable energy sector. Field Support & Maintenance Assistance Assist with basic maintenance tasks on PV and BESS systems under close supervision.

Perform site setup and equipment preparation duties, including staging tools, PPE, and materials.

Support routine torque checks, cleaning, and visual inspections of electrical and mechanical components.

Help senior technicians with safe removal, handling, and replacement of minor system parts.

Jobsite Organization & Equipment Handling Load and unload tools and components; maintain a clean and orderly jobsite.

Ensure assigned tools and PPE are accounted for and in good working condition.

Assist in the care and inventory of testing and safety equipment.

Safety & Compliance Participation Follow all safety policies, procedures, and instructions as directed by site leadership.

Participate in daily safety meetings, job hazard analyses, and required training.

Immediately report any unsafe conditions, behaviors, or incidents to supervisors. Required Skills and Expertise

Experience:

Minimum of 1 to 2 years of experience in construction, general labor, electrical, solar, or mechanical work preferred. Solar-specific experience is a plus, but not required.

Technical Readiness:

Willingness to learn about PV systems, racking, wiring, and inverters through on-the-job experience.

Basic tool knowledge and ability to safely use hand tools and small power tools.

Comfortable working outdoors in changing weather conditions.

Licensure &

Certifications:

Valid Drivers License required.

OSHA 10 preferred (OSHA 30 may be required after hire).Arc Flash and other EHS training provided during onboarding.

Work Ethic & Attitude:

Dependable, punctual, and safety-conscious with strong communication skills.

Open to feedback, able to follow instructions, and eager to support team goals.

Willingness to travel extensively and work on remote field-based assignments. Education and Certifications

Education:

High school diploma or GED required. Technical coursework or vocational school in mechanical or electrical fields is a plus.
