MCC is currently seeking a Dean of Health and Behavioral Sciences to provide leadership and vision for academic programs, faculty, staff, and academic support within the assigned division, including but not limited to:
Nursing, Health Sciences, Counseling, Psychology, Social Sciences and Education. As part of the senior academic leadership team, the Dean guides strategic planning; supports faculty hiring, development, and evaluation; advances assessment and program review; ensures compliance with accreditation requirements; and collaborates across the college to foster student learning, retention, and completion.

The Dean works collaboratively with academic and student affairs colleagues, department chairs, faculty, and staff; and ensures alignment with MCC’s mission, values, and strategic goals. The Dean supports community and industry partnerships and actively engages with external partners to increase opportunities for students and to respond to community needs for programming. The ideal candidate is an experienced academic leader who demonstrates exemplary communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.

Qualifications
  • An earned doctorate or terminal degree in health or social sciences or related field from an accredited institution.
  • Higher education teaching experience, preferably in community colleges.
  • Experience serving as a dean, department chair, program director, or equivalent academic leadership role.
  • Oversight of institutional and/or programmatic accreditation activities.
  • Experience leading across multiple academic disciplines with distinct accreditation, regulatory, and workforce expectations.
  • Experience working with external stakeholders to develop and sustain workforce-aligned programs, including but not limited to clinical, practicum, or internship partnerships.
  • One year of relevant full-time MCCCD experience during the previous two years.
