East Valley Academy, Mesa Public Schools, is seeking a full‑time classroom teacher for the 2026‑2027 academic year.
Job DescriptionThe classroom teacher will lead students toward the fulfillment of their potential by translating district curriculum standards and objectives into meaningful learning experiences through instruction and supporting special area assignments. The teacher is responsible for maintaining a positive, safe, and inclusive educational environment and creating a program that meets the intellectual and emotional needs of all students.
Applicants must complete an online application requiring: appropriate Arizona teaching certification, valid IVP Arizona fingerprint clearance card, evidence of highly qualified status, three letters of recommendation, and transcript of credits.
Key Responsibilities- Demonstrate knowledge of subject matter, instructional skills and resource materials.
- Utilize effective instructional and management techniques.
- Plan lessons in consideration of individual student needs and district learning goals.
- Use district‑adopted textbooks and curriculum guides.
- Incorporate higher‑level thinking strategies and real‑life applications into instruction.
- Create instructional and assessment materials aligned with learning objectives.
- Integrate technology or instructional media to enhance learning.
- Collect and analyze student achievement data accurately, using tools such as tests, projects, and checklists.
- Establish, support, and administer positive classroom management in accordance with regulations.
- Maintain positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues, communicating about academic and behavioral progress.
- Collaborate with parents and school personnel to provide an appropriate education for each student.
- Maintain accurate student records of achievement, attendance, and discipline.
- Create a positive and safe learning environment.
- Actively participate in school goal setting and problem‑solving.
- Communicate expectations of success for all students.
- Assist with additional duties as assigned by Mesa Public Schools.
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Valid Arizona teaching certification.
- Prior teaching experience.
- Associate teacher, student‑teaching, or practicum experience.
- Demonstrate attributes and skills of the MPS Portrait of a Graduate.

- Effective communication (verbal and written) with parents and school personnel.

Physical Requirements
- Traditional classroom setup with desks, whiteboards, and digital tools.
- Supervise students in hallways, cafeterias, playgrounds, and outdoor spaces.
- Normal 8‑hour workday; additional hours may be required during conferences, professional development, or extracurricular activities.
- Engage with diverse students and manage classroom behavior.
- Long periods of standing and walking.
- Lift books and materials typically under 20 lbs., occasionally more.

Salary: $55,386.00 per year
Sick leave, holidays, matched retirement through the Arizona State Retirement System, health and life insurance.
Performance PayAvailable annually: $500 for each full‑time year of certified teaching experience; $65 per hour of graduate‑level credits (BA +45 hours max, MA +60 hours max) and $1,000 for advanced degrees.
CertificationAlternate teaching certification pathways available with a bachelor’s degree.
