Job Summary:

The Career and Technical Education (CTE) Support Specialist works in conjunction with teachers, site administrators, and district departments to enhance teacher effectiveness and support the implementation and integration of CTE state and district standards and curriculum. This position supports the Director of College, Career, and Community Readiness by ensuring program compliance, strengthening postsecondary and workforce pathways, and maintaining safe, high-quality instructional environments aligned with ADE, Perkins V and EVIT requirements.

The specialist works collaboratively with department staff to align CTE programs to postsecondary pathways, support work-based learning experiences, and advance the district’s Graduation Plus initiative—ensuring every student graduates prepared for college, career, and community success. The specialist also serves as a point of contact for College and Career Academies, supporting the integration of academic and technical instruction through interdisciplinary teaming and pathway-aligned learning experiences.

The specialist visits classrooms regularly to support effective instruction, reinforce employability and technical skill development, and ensure facilities and equipment are in safe working condition.

This position assists in meeting local, state, and federal accountability goals and program compliance requirements. Additionally, the specialist supports professional learning for teachers, coordinates industry certifications and CTSO logistics, and represents the district at the state and national levels through conferences, partnerships, and committees.

Key Responsibilities
  • Safety, Facilities, and Equipment
    • Coordinate with Operations departments to ensure instructional equipment and facilities are functional and safe.
    • Monitor CTE labs for compliance with district, state, and OSHA safety standards.
    • Research and recommend safe, cost-effective instructional materials and obtain vendor quotes per district policy.
    • Support annual lab cleanup and the removal or replacement of outdated or unsafe equipment.
    • Collaborate with site staff to ensure CTE environments meet programmatic and instructional safety standards that are above the district traditional classroom standard.

CTE College & Career Academy and Program Specialization

  • Provide specialized support for CTE programs and College & Career Academies in the areas of Health & Medical Sciences;
    Agriscience, Sports Medicine, Biotechnology, Certified Nursing Assistant and junior high CTE related classes.
  • Collaborate with academy and pathway teachers to ensure instruction, curriculum, and assessments align with state standards, industry certifications, and Graduation Plus goals.
  • Assist in identifying and implementing industry-recognized credentials and certifications aligned to program areas.
  • Work collaboratively with site and district leadership to ensure program alignment across middle and high school levels and smooth student transitions into high-demand pathways.
  • Represent assigned programs in local, regional, and state CTE, business, and postsecondary networks, promoting collaboration and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with teachers to develop and implement aligned curriculum, instructional resources, and assessments based on state and district CTE frameworks.
  • Visit classrooms to provide coaching, feedback, and technical assistance that enhance instructional practices and student outcomes.
  • Support teachers to ensure students complete a coherent sequence of instruction leading to program completion, credentials, and postsecondary success.
  • Provide curriculum support and assist with aligning instructional resources to district scope and sequence.
  • Collaborate with district specialists to align instruction with postsecondary expectations, including dual and concurrent enrollment opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain online learning content and resources for educators and students.
  • Support professional growth in instructional strategies, safety practices, employability skills, and assessment use.
Program Operations, Compliance, and Accountability
  • Support teachers in implementing all ADE, Perkins, and EVIT program requirements, standards, and performance measures.
